Presenter Bio:
Derek served as a Kingston Police officer for 28 years before retiring. 

While in Kingston, he was instrumental in helping transition law enforcement agencies across Canada to X- Ways Forensics and maintained the Hash databases relating to CP files.  He initiated the E-Crimes division with Kingston Police Service in 2009, and was the sole member of the division until becoming the Ontario Provincial Strategy Forensic Analyst for Child Exploitation between 2014 and 2023.

He was the designer and main tester for some critical components used in X-Ways and establishing standards for the forensics field:  the KPF X-Ways X-Tension (now Jesdsontech X-Tension) for use with Child exploitation cases.  The TurboJed/ AutomateX X-Tension to simplify and standardize any examination with X-Ways Forensics.

In 2022, he became a certified X-PERT (X-Ways Professional in Evidence Recovery Techniques) and is now the sole provider of certified X-Ways Training in Canada including both XWF I and XWF II advanced courses in Canada.
