Presenter Bio:
Brandon Epstein is an experienced digital forensics examiner, educator, researcher, and retired law enforcement officer. He is the chair of the Scientific Working Group on Digital Evidence and is a member of the IAI’s Forensic Video Certification board, IACP Cybercrime and Digital Evidence committee, NIST/OSAC Video/Imaging Technology and Analysis Subcommittee, and is a fellow the American Academy of Forensic Science.
Presentation Description:
As Artificial Intelligence (AI) evolves, so does the desire to use its great power in forensic tools and examinations. This presentation will introduce the audience to probabilistic outputs from AI algorithms where results are not presented with absolute certainty. We will discuss what a probabilistic output really is and appropriate uses within examinations, allowing investigators and examiners to make informed decisions surrounding the use of AI in their work.
