From Access to Exfiltration: Investigating and Preventing Modern Data Loss
Description:
Sensitive data rarely disappears in a single dramatic event; it is accessed, copied, manipulated, uploaded, shared, and sometimes exposed through legitimate tools and users. This session examines modern data exfiltration and insider risk scenarios, including SaaS and generative AI, and demonstrates how security teams can follow the data from its source through attempted loss. Attendees will see how contextual visibility, behavioral analysis, policy enforcement, and investigation can work together to protect sensitive information without simply blocking everything.

Presenter Bio:
Jason Palm is a cybersecurity engineer with experience spanning penetration testing, security engineering, and cybersecurity solution architecture. At Fortinet, he works with organizations to address endpoint security, data protection, detection, and incident response challenges. He regularly works with public sector, education, and commercial organizations to translate real world attack techniques into practical security strategies and demonstrations.
