Mobile RAM is often overlooked, not because it lacks value, but because many investigators aren’t aware it’s even possible to extract it, let alone examine it.
In a world where apps encrypt everything and traditional methods hit roadblocks, RAM can reveal what’s happening right now on a device: chat fragments, live app data, and insights that never make it to permanent storage, we have even discovered deleted data within RAM.
Contrary to common belief, this data isn’t always lost when a device is powered down, modern smartphones maintain RAM using onboard power, keeping volatile memory accessible under the right conditions. This session will explore how and why RAM is quickly becoming a vital piece of the mobile evidence puzzle.
